I also try to download from reliable sites like CNET's Downloads.
- Grisoft AVG AntiVirus Free Edition - free.grisoft.com - Basic protection from all the nasty stuff out there in the web.
- Lavasoft Ad-Aware Free - www.lavasoft.com - Another nifty tool that you'll find handy.
- Adobe Reader - Use to view, edit, or add security to PDF files.
- Java - www.java.com - Allows the execution of web apps, and then some.
- Adobe Flash - like Java, only cooler.
- Mozilla Firefox - www.mozilla.com/firefox - better than Internet Explorer IMHO
- Google Chrome - www.google.com/chrome - Google's web browser, need I say more? I use gmail and googledocs so it's my browser of choice.
- Opera - opera.com/download - another cool alternative to IE.
- Mozilla Thunderbird - offers an alternative to MS Outlook
- Express Scribe - www.nch.com.au/scribe - a nice, reliable transcriptions software
- OpenOffice suite - download.openoffice.org - offers an alternative to MS Offfice
- Filezilla - filezilla-project.com - the best free FTP solution out there, bar none.
Since most of the work at home populace are already internet savvy, I'm assuming that everyone is already aware of these neat freebies, but what the heck? :)
